Rape of Gaia

The rape of Gaia is a portrait of the Vatican, obviously under the control of Saturn. The cubist painting in the center is of the pope yielding Cronus’s sickle reaching out to identify the woman as the next sacrifice for his cardinals. She is clinging to hope, the orange pillar that represents the Sun, the life force that can free humanity from the chains of time. The Pillar of the sun is met with its opposite by the left black pillar, at the top sits the hourglass and the black cube, the keepers of time. Descending from the shadows are the cardinals approaching the altar on which hope will be sacrificed. The altar is framed by four phalluses in the colors of the four horseman of the apocalypse.
